Accessed by a long pier just past Salakphet Seafood, Island View is located in the middle of the bay, surrounded by water.
This should alert fishing lovers as you can literally cast out from your balcony. The German/Thai owners put the emphasis on active holidays; in addition to the fishing there's yachting, snorkelling, scuba-diving, kayaking, stand-up paddling (SUP), waterskiing and trekking to the area's mountains and waterfalls. The resort also boasts a small spa, swimming pool and floating pontoon for sunbathing -- all new additions since our last visit. Though not quite as elegant as those at Salakphet Seafood, rooms are spacious, cheerful, and have a high standard. Along with air-con in addition to fans, they boast comfortable beds and glass doors opening onto wide shared verandas perched over the sea. The bathrooms are also nicely done, with seashell framed mirrors and hot water in the showers. The only difference between standards and so-called "comfort" rooms is a little extra space and king-size bed in the latter; both enjoy sea views. Island View also offers a few large apartments on terra firma, each with TVs and private balconies. Overall this is great value for a complete adventure holiday package.
