Central and comfortable
The King enjoys the best location of any of Loei’s hotels, a stone’s throw from the traffic circle and an easy walk to a number of bars, restaurants, the weekend night market, the daily markets and a motorbike rental shop.
While the bustling surrounds would seem to make this a noisy choice, rooms are set back from the street in a multi-storey building set around an open courtyard with a few tropical plants. Though lacking character, the rooms we checked out were large, clean and equipped with wide glass windows (some overlook the river), soft beds, desks, TVs, fridges and decent wet bathrooms. The place has been around for a while and must have received some upgrades in recent years — even the lift smelled fresh. The polite orange-clad staff can speak a little English, and an on-site coffee shop is a fine spot to start your day.
