Sri Rattna Hotel

Sri Rattna Hotel

Dirt-cheap and central

More on Nakhon Ratchasima

Make your way to the Sri Rattna Hotel if you’re on a shoestring budget and could go for a rock-hard bed in a great downtown location.

Travelfish says:

Usually shortened to “Sri Rat” (it rhymes with “be hot”), this old-style Thai budget hotel has a great location next to Mae Kim Heng Market and a couple of hundred metres northwest of Ya Mo. Expect considerable street noise. The women at reception speak very little English but seemed happy to accommodate a foreigner. Situated upstairs and down open-sided hallways facing a neighbouring building, the grey-and-white rooms have all the charm of a Soviet factory but are well kept and spacious, with high ceilings, desks, windows and bucket-flush Western toilets in hot-water bathrooms. Air-con rooms even have little LCD TVs attached to the walls, though we’d only stay here if going for one of the dirt-cheap rooms with ceiling fans. (Nearby Sansabai House has much better air-con digs for the same rate.)

The hotel does not have an English sign; look for a yellow-and-blue building on the south side of Suranaree, a few doors west of Ratchadamnoen. If you’d prefer a slightly more expensive room in a slightly quieter location, the Sakol Hotel is another basic budget hotel over on Assadang Road. Closer by on Ratchadamnoen, the Cathay Hotel has similar prices as Sri Rattna but rooms aren’t quite as well kept.
