Apple Resort is Tha Ton’s best known and most popular guesthouse, and probably justifiably so with its hard to beat formula of great location, value for money rooms and efficient, friendly service.
Apple is situated right on the bank of the Mae Kok, down the right hand lane on the east side of the bridge, with excellent views of the river, town and Wat Tha Ton. River-view chalets don’t come particularly cheap though, especially in high season, which doesn’t stop them filling up fast. Garden-view rooms, which come in small and medium sized options, are considerably cheaper but then who wants a view of the carpark? The colour scheme is pale yellow with wood trimmings and all rooms have balconies. Riverside chalets are nicely decorated and spacious and come with air-con, hot shower and fridge, but it’s those balconies that make them such a hit. Garden-view are equally pleasantly decorated and well appointed, though lacking the air-con, but their small chalets are, well, small!
The coffee shop and bar area are nicely positioned and popular with views of the Kok too, and a good place to meet people though the restaurant serves food during high season only. A complimentary breakfast is only offered during high season too. WiFi is available throughout.
Staff are efficient and friendly with plenty of local info on offer though if you’re not prepared to stretch to an air-con river-view chalet (and they have one available), then there may be better alternatives elsewhere. It is a bit of a scene during high season but you can of course stay anywhere in town and just pop along to Apple for a beer, bite and a chat.
