Approximately half way between Wiang Haeng and Piang Luang is this very cute and lovingly maintained, resort-style hotel.

Set just off the main highway on the left, and clearly signposted, Ban Rabieng Mai has several wooden chalets in a well-tended garden around a fishpond plus a two-storey, pale yellow block of rooms. The chalets are cute and all come with balconies, ensuite bathrooms and air-con. The rooms, with fan or air-con options, are also nicely laid out and spotlessly clean. Decoration is minimal apart from a few Lanna flourishes but all rooms come with WiFi, TV, fridge and hot showers.

Staff are friendly though little English spoken. There’s a small cafe by the pond which serves drinks and simple breakfasts -- it should be open in high season for more substantial fare. There were several more ‘resorts’ on the road between Piang Luang and Wiang Haeng but this was the clear pick of the bunch.
