Brand new as of mid-2015, the Heun Mhok Kham, just on the north side of town as you exit towards Lak Taeng, has a choice of air-con chalets or fan-cooled rooms in a one-storey block.

The peach-coloured chalets are spacious and come with large balconies plus TV, fridge, hot showers and WiFi. The fan rooms are similarly appointed. A simple breakfast of fruit, toast and coffee or tea comes free with both types of room. Breakfast is taken on their restaurant verandah which though closed when we visited, ought to be operational for high season.

Opposite the carpark is a one-storey block housing the fan rooms while the chalets were up a slope overlooking the village in a rudimentary garden. They’ve only just opened so we’ll give them a chance in that respect. The service is friendly, though staff have little or no spoken English, but rooms werefresh, clean and comfortable -- a good spot.
