Simply the best rooms in town
One of the guesthouses furthest away if you’re walking down Langpanich Road, it’s still well worth going the extra yard to get to Riverbank Resort, especially if you can get your hands on one of their larger rooms.
Spacious, beautifully decorated, teak-lined rooms with large balconies overlooking the river are simply the best rooms in town -- these are at the back on the second and third floors, while below are small, cheaper rooms whose lower level communal decking area has a rather obstructed view of the landscape. Their ‘small’ rooms certainly fit the description and we had to move our bed in order to be able to open the door when we stayed there. Yes, they’re clean and come with hot shower, air-con, WiFi and (miniature) TV, but unlike the large rooms there are better deals around for this price, including at the hotel immediately next door.
The Riverbank, along with the aptly named Good View next door, have the best situation in town, offering unobstructed views across the river to the mountains beyond. The restaurant area has magnificent vistas and while closed for food during low season when we visited, staff still served free coffee and tea to guests in the morning and cold drinks and beers in the evenings. (Restaurant service re-starts in October or November.) Service is friendly, though the staff we found spoke limited English. They do have some bicycles for the use of guests, too.
