Riverside location but no ‘river’ in the name
Immediately next door to Riverbank is one of Mae Sariang’s newer offerings, Good View Guesthouse.
While their varnished wood, communal terrace has an equally superb view, they sadly decided against adding balconies to their rooms, which is a shame since the rooms are otherwise fine -- and have great views out of the windows nonetheless. They aren’t as spacious as the large rooms next door but are bigger than the small rooms at Riverbank, so if you can’t get one of those large rooms or need to save 200 baht, Good View is a better option for slightly cheaper rooms.
Rooms are bright and airy, freshly decorated and come in either fan or air-con. Needless to say the air-con rooms are the better situated though fan rooms are cheap. During busy periods you may be offered one of the streetside rooms.
The building itself is a great old three-storey teak building with, as at Riverbank, a fourth floor below street level on the riverbank. Services were curtailed for our low season visit, with no food served, and the Salawin Tours office which shares the location was closed at time of visit. Staff were obliging and friendly, and the are rates certainly good -- they told us there would be no high season supplement.
