If the others are full
This longstanding guesthouse has been revamped a bit recently under a new name, though to be honest with so many ‘rivers’ abounding in hotel names here we’re not exactly sure just which was their previous incarnation.
It’s placed roughly between the two Riverside properties and Good View and Riverbank, so they are in a fine location and boast another fine view.
The building itself isn’t so well laid out though, and we found it had a slightly cluttered feel, with narrow staircases and balconies. Though rooms were perfectly adequate, they certainly weren’t as good as those of its neighbours. You get the impression the revamp was slightly half-hearted and while rooms are clean and comfortable, they lack any flourishes. They don’t come with private balconies either and communal areas are somewhat less than spacious.
Rooms come in either fan or air-con varieties but all have en suite bathrooms with hot showers. There was no restaurant service when we visited during low season, but tea and coffee was served in the mornings and the owners were particularly friendly and welcoming. While perhaps not a first choice, PS is a good back-up nonetheless.
