They raised the price on fan bungalows by a couple of hundred baht since our last visit, and while this is getting towards questionable value, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better fan room in Ao Nang. Equipped with king-size beds on hardwood floors, mosquito nets, moveable fans and ceiling fans, safes, large front terraces and huge polished concrete bathrooms with hot water, the bungalows are made of brick, wood and woven bamboo, set up in a row with a fair amount of greenery. Air-con editions come in elegant Thai-style villas dotted around a small swimming pool and the pond, which has a few fountains to help keep the atmosphere soothing. These rooms are very bright and come in a few sizes, all well kept and with thoughtful touches like cactus gardens on the porches, ceiling fans (in addition to the air-con), large wooden desks, Thai art that wouldn't look out of place on a temple wall, sofas and floor cushions on grass mats. Buffet breakfast is included in all rates and the staff was welcoming. Low season rates are trimmed more than at most resorts.
