Under new management as of 2013, this tiny bungalow joint is located in an actual cashew nut orchard about halfway up the hill that forms Kantiang's northern border.
The scent of cashew fruit fills the air. A small number of clean, spacious and simple concrete A-frame bungalows are set in two lines under the cashew trees. The accommodation is basic but comfier than you might expect for the price, with tin roofs, tile floors, wall-mounted fans or air-con, firm beds with good linens and mosquito nets, attached wet bathrooms and front terraces. One of the rooms we checked out had a blazing bright orange interior paint job, while another came with several swing-open windows. Note that the cold-water bathrooms don't have sinks. The staff member we met was very friendly once we finally tracked her down. From Cashewnut it's a five-minute walk down to the beach, three minutes to the village and two minutes up to the fantastic views from Topview's restaurant. There's no WiFi but you can find it at nearby cafes. If you want to save 100 baht on a less inspiring room that's a little closer to the village, check out nearby Kantiang Guesthouse.
