Together with the popular Feeling Bar that's run by the same chilled-out crew, Where Else is like an art gallery, junkyard, theme park and antique shop all rolled into one.
The entrance is marked by a grounded longtail boat with bird cages, old buoys, flags, sea-shell collages and bamboo gateways scattered every which way. The bar is one of Khlong Khong's most lively; look no further if you're hoping to meet, drink and chat with other travellers. Thatch-roofed bamboo bungalows are set back under coconut and umbrella trees, though not far enough to escape the noise at night. Each hut is different from the next and comes with its own artistic punch, though all of them have firm beds with mosquito nets, fans, private cold-water bathrooms and hammocks on the porch. The one we checked out had a partially open-air bathroom with piles of coral, a ceramic basin sink and a few potted plants. Where Else is a little bigger and more professional than most of Khlong Khong's bungalow spots. A staff member ready to greet us at reception, and he even gave us a spiffy brochure!
