Quirky cliffside bungalows
After sitting in half-built dereliction for a few years, this hillside resort was finally completed in 2013 and given a new name.
Two styles of rooms are available, bamboo bungalows, some set along the beach, and larger wood and concrete bungalows, called hillside villas, found up the hill behind. All rooms have mosquito-netted double beds, air-con and hot water, with breakfast and WiFi included in the price. The steeply pitched roofs of the bungalows certainly make them stand out, resembling longtail boats jutting out from the hill. The rooms we saw were all spotless, with a few touches of luxury including stylish wash basins. The hillside villas might be worth shelling out for, since the views are spectacular and their interiors are rather elegant with polished wood floors, vaulted ceilings, wooden desks and big bathrooms with rainfall showers. It’s a tough walk to reach the villas up the steep hill, but buggy service is provided. We found this to be a friendly place and didn’t find much to complain about, though the large restaurant out front is a bit imposing and looks out of place. Electricity is available from 15:00 to 10:00 only.
