Comfortable budget choice
34-36 Chao Fah Rd, Krabi T: (075) 630 382
The PN might not win major points for style, but for a good night's sleep on the cheap, it’s a solid choice.
The ground-floor rooms are dark and can get hot if you go with the fan option, with windows in some rooms facing a wall. Upstairs rooms are significantly better, available in either fan or air-con (they shut off the air if you’re okay with a fan). Beds are comfortable and sheets fresh. All rooms have private bathrooms and the hot showers churn out seriously hot water at a high pressure. Free WiFi and satellite TVs are also offered in all rooms. Although it's located along the road, traffic noise is minimal thanks to thick walls. The owner is friendly and experienced at helping guests with tours and onward travel. The location is a bit removed from the action but within an easy enough walk to town and very close to where the airport shuttle buses drop off. Though it won’t knock any socks off, PN is still worth considering for reasonable budget accommodation. The nearby Baifern Mansion and Andaman Legacy Guesthouse have similar rooms and rates but aren’t as friendly.

has evolved into a mash-up of funky bars, Western restaurants, old-school markets slinging fiery curries and the same sorts of modest shophouses found in any Thai provincial capital. Somehow these pieces fit into a fun and intriguing puzzle, all set to a backdrop of mangrove-lined rivers, longtail boats, jagged karsts and a busy patch of the Andaman Sea.
