Smart, cushy rooms
Opened in 2017, Family Tree Hotel is an eight-room hotel which has raised the bar for classy, comfortable accommodation in Krabi town.
After enjoying a great coffee and brownie in the ground-floor cafe, the notably welcoming owner and staff led us up the spiral stairs to check out the spacious rooms sporting soft, high-end mattresses along with hardwood floors and accents creating a cosy atmosphere. Each room comes with a widescreen TV, WiFi, desk, fridge, safe, bathrobes and the best in-room coffee/tea station we’ve seen in thousands of hotel inspections in Thailand—with quality beans, grinder, coffee dripper, several types of teas and house-made cookies, all of it complimentary.
Bathrooms have large walk-in showers with glass walls and basin sinks situated just outside bathroom doors beside makeup desks and wide mirrors. You also get a balcony or, in the pricier rooms, a private patio with potted plants on floors made of brick and smooth pebbles.
The cafe is popular with locals and non-guest travellers thanks to the outstanding all-day breakfasts, a good range of baked goods and craft beers. If this is too pricey, nearby KL Boutique Hotel is a decent alternative, while the larger Krabi City View is also worth a look if you prefer a larger hotel in the 600 to 1,000 baht range.
