Hallo Villa

Hallo Villa

Chilled out cabanas

More on Khanom And Sichon

If you don’t mind staying a kilometre from the beach, Hallo Villa is a fine choice for a tastefully done Thai-style cabana set around a shady lawn and saltwater swimming pool.

Travelfish says:

All of the above for less than 1,000 baht a night makes this a great choice for saving cash without sacrificing comfort.

Rooms come in two different styles, all of them decorated with traditional temple-style Thai paintings, Thai axe pillows and accents of rattan, bamboo and thatch. Each room is decorated a bit differently from the next, lending the feel of an intimate boutique resort -- or simply a place where different rooms were added at different times and built by different people. However you conceptualise it, we appreciated the laidback atmosphere and attention to detail.

We strongly preferred the tin-roofed stilted cabanas with hardwood floors, bamboo-wall bathrooms with sunroofs, several screened windows with white cotton drapes and cosy back porches overlooking green fields and mountains. Other rooms come in the form of concrete villas that have more space but are also much darker thanks to only one window. All rooms are equipped with firm beds, small LCD TVs, desks, fridges, free WiFi and hot-water kettles with complimentary instant coffee and tea. Breakfast is not included but you can order a simple Western breakfast or Thai fried rice with a fresh coffee for less than 100 baht in the relaxing cafe/lobby. The owners and staff have positive attitudes and do their best to make guests feel at home. They rent out bicycles and motorbikes, and will even drive you to the market or minibus stop for free.

The resort’s location on the road running parallel to the beach road, further inland, is the only disadvantage. You’ll probably want some wheels if staying here, but that can be said about the entire Khanom area. Further south near the turnoff for Haad Nai Phlao, the Leeloo Paradise Resort is another inland spot with a similarly intimate vibe, similar rates and a small pool.
