Massive rooms and friendly service
Hidden away on a quiet residential street in the southern part of town, Tree Home Plus is a luxury homestay offering outstanding rooms at very reasonable rates.
It’s three kilometres from the train station and over two kilometres from Wat Phra Mahathat, so not the most convenient location. But this laidback little spot might just be worth a long walk and is a no-brainer if you have your own vehicle.
The three guestrooms share the single floor of a tasteful contemporary Thai style house set on a neatly maintained lot with several trees, a wood-roofed gate by the road and stone walkways leading through a yard that’s wide enough for a game of badminton. The property blends several outdoor seating areas and corridors with an enclosed air-con dining area, all graced with sleek hardwoods and multiple swing-open windows.
Each with hardwood accents for a homely touch, rooms are huge -- over 50 square metres we reckon -- and outfitted with glossy tile floors and glass doors opening onto semi-private terraces that open into the yard. Beds are draped in good-quality linens and the fridges, LCD TVs and air-con units all appeared to be fairly new. Hot-water showers in the spacious bathrooms come with rain showerheads in addition to the usual moveable showerheads. WiFi is free and the friendly owners serve belly-warming rice congee or khao lao noodles as part of the included breakfast. The house does not have a dedicated car park but there’s plenty of parking available along the street out front.
The rates that we were offered as walk-ins and have seen posted on booking sites are well below the 1,500 baht price tag posted on the guesthouse’s website. The rack rate is actually reasonable for what you get, making the usual discounted rates exceptional value. Tree Home Plus was our favourite of the places to stay that we checked in Nakhon town, but the nearby Baan Na Khon and Baan Supannikar are also solid modern spots with similar rates.
