Pleasant family run spot
One of the closest resorts to the pier -- ideal if you don’t feel like paying for a taxi to go further -- Pranee is a small spot with only 11 rooms situated on a great area of beach.
It’s family run and the owner is very friendly and sincere. Beachfront concrete bungalows don’t get many points for style but they are clean, big, modern and functional with sliding glass doors on to large porches, comfortable beds and clean bedrooms. Two cheaper rooms with no sea views are set in a bungalow about 100 metres back from the beach. All come with king-sized beds, air-con, hot water shower, fridge, kettle and TV. There are no pools or much else to the resort other than a beach side restaurant. On our most recent visit in late April 2015, we arrived just days after they’d closed for the season, but we were able to look around the resort, a tidy place kept cool in the shade of casuarina trees and well tended tropical gardens. Though the resort is not set up for online booking, they’re quick to reply to enquiries by email. Closed from late April till late October.
