Cheerful choice near the beach
This cosy guesthouse down a narrow alley has eight rooms with shaded terraces set around a small courtyard.
An easy walk to the beach with several restaurants and shops nearby, this is a great spot if you want to be central to the (low-key) action of Kamala. Inside the whitewashed buildings are colourful rooms, all with air-con and big bathrooms with hot showers. A mini-fridge, safe, wall-mounted TV with DVD player, writing desk and free WiFi round out the room’s added comforts. The larger suites, which were full so we weren’t able to view, are a decent choice for families, with two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other a single, plus a dining table and sofa in the living area. If Deng’s Guesthouse is full, or if you’re seeking something fresher in a similar price range, Clear House is a good alternative. And like Deng’s, Clear House has a separate resort of the same name with a pool, though it’s a fair distance from the beach. With room rates starting at 1,100 baht in low season, however, it might be worth the extra walk.
