One of the best budget options
For the extra space above a minimart-cum-tour desk-cum-massage parlour, the rooms at Baan Chom Tawan are much better than you would imagine.
In fact, with tiled floors, bedside reading lamps, and richly coloured hardwood furniture, the rooms are downright stylish. Furthermore, each room is air-con and has a TV and minifridge. The black and white bathrooms are contemporary and the more expensive rooms have large bathtubs. Rates don’t include breakfast but guests have access to free coffee and tea all day along. Prices have edged up since our previous visits, but it’s still reasonable value for Surin, plus there’s the added convenience of all that one-stop shopping downstairs. We expect if we’d pushed for an added discount during our low-season visit in July 2015, we could have got a better deal since many rooms were open then. Even so, walk-in rates are still far better than the rates we found on booking sites online, so you may want to try your luck.
