With a massive swimming pool
Since opening in late 2014, the four-storey, 43-room Windmill has become the most visible place to stay in the Ya Nui area.
From the outside it looks like another run-of-the-mill concrete hotel, but we were pleasantly surprised when venturing inside. First, the swimming pool is massive, with a small kiddie pool at one end plus a shaded area along the edge with massage salas. The rooms are also large and swankier than you’d expect for the price with marble flooring and bathrooms. All have king-sized beds and enough space for a living area with sofas. Each room is also equipped with air-con and ceiling fans, a big flat-screen TV, fridge, kettle, and bathrooms with hot water showers and bathtubs. Ground floor rooms that open directly to the pool and sea-view rooms on the top floor fetch higher prices. In February 2015, high season rates were the same as low, but given how busy it looked just a few months after opening, we expect prices to go up in future. Rates include WiFi and breakfast, and if you’re keen to linger on they offer monthly rates starting at 50,000 baht. Friendly and family run. The restaurant is reasonably priced and puts on a Sunday roast. You’ll find the Windmall along Soi Yanui about 300 metres back from the beach.
