Backpacker huts near the beach
Proudthai’s simple air-con bungalows are looking a little long in the tooth now, but, if you’re set on having a budget bungalow within eyeshot of the beach, this is the best budget option in Ban Krut.
The huts are set in a coconut grove in two rows facing one another, running back from the beach. Each has its own balcony with heavy wooden furniture and the interior is simple and functional with a big fridge, TV, air-con and fan, WiFi and a warm water bathroom. The bed in the room we were shown was well aged and the walls were a bit scuffed, but the owner is a very friendly guy with good English and had an obvious good rapport with his guests. If Siripong is too basic for your needs, head straight here -- and be sure to ask after a discount if you’re staying more than a night or so. Location is also convenient for some of the beach eateries which is good as there is no on-site restaurant.
