Lots of options
The centrally located Victor has a wide mix of rooms in a single floor motel-style building that just keeps stretching back behind reception.
Every room seems to be decorated slightly different from the last. Even the cheapest fan rooms with shared bath come with TVs and DVD players, while the higher-end offerings are spacious and bag you a mini-fridge. Decor includes bright paintings done by local artists and hung on warm yellow walls, though the attention to detail has not found its way into the somewhat grotty bathrooms. The people behind Victor also run Pattana Guesthouse, which has a pokey bar immediately behind Victor itself, resulting in one large guesthouse with multiple layers. At Pattana you’ll find darker rooms in a traditional Thai wood house with a big model ship out front. Adding another layer of confusion, the same group also runs Victor Residence and its slightly more expensive and modern rooms a few doors further up on Nares Damri. With so many different options, it’s best to simply walk in and ask to be shown around until you find something that suits you. On a June visit, we were offered nearly 200 baht off the listed rate for a superior air-con room, and overall the walk-in rates appeared a bit cheaper than what we saw online.
