Lively scene on weekends
Naab K Heart epitomises this trendy area better than any other single establishment.
The ground-floor cafe has a lively atmosphere on weekends, when fashion-conscious young Thais flock here to sip iced lattes and tuck into curries and Thai desserts. The whole place has a quasi-retro feel that’s all the rage in Thailand; think vintage bicycles, pastel patterns and old-school TVs that are there for decoration rather than entertainment. With decent beds, wood floors, soft cotton drapes, large windows, mini-fridges and polished concrete bathrooms with modern appliances, the minimalist rooms are about what we’d expect for the price. Breakfast is complimentary and a handful of bicycles are available for rent, but the staff can get distracted when the restaurant is busy. Naeb K Heart is a two-minute walk to Soi 51 and 10 minutes to the fishing pier. At the corner of Naeb Kehardt and Soi 51, Mooz and Daydreamer are two similar choices with near identical rates. Prices at Naab K Heart jump by 200 to 300 baht on weekends.
