Just up the road from the pier, Best House has a cluster of rooms in an attached single-floor building and detached concrete bungalows with porches overlooking a fishpond.

It's not paradise, but probably the most attractive surrounds of any guesthouse in Pakbara. All rooms come with air-con, TV and private hot-water bathrooms, making this a decent option if you want creature comforts. Rooms in front are rather dark, with only small windows, green tile floors and not much else, but the detached bungalows in back have larger windows to go with soft beds and decent bathrooms. A few large family rooms with multiple beds are fine options if you've brought the tribe along. Staff doesn't speak much English and is not known for friendliness, though we had a good experience with the owner. Best House is also a licensed tour operator that gets most of its business from domestic tourists who stay here at night and take boat tours during the day. If you don't feel like walking over to the travel offices, boat and minibus tickets can be arranged here. Expect a discount in low season.
