Modern rooms, good location
The crew at Blue Smile Cafe suggested TK Service Apartment, and we were glad they did after seeing the tidy rooms with a good location towards the old town’s southern end.
Ever-present women who made up for minimal English skills with smiles staff the glass-fronted lobby. They sent us through the keycard entrance and upstairs to see modern rooms spread over the upper two floors. While not memorable, these rooms will do the trick for a comfortable snooze in clean surrounds.
In addition to comfy beds on grey tile floors you get air-con, wall-mounted LCD TV, desk, minibar, WiFi and very spacious wet bathroom with modern sink and hot-water rainshower that was installed too close to the toilet. Slender wooden planks reach over the windows and obstruct street views while limiting the amount of sunlight shining inside; we suppose they’re good for security.
TK’s location towards the southern end of Nakhon Nok makes it possible to stay in the old town without spending 1,500 baht at Baan Nai Nakhon. Much of Songkhla’s most picturesque architecture is an easy walk to the north and there’s a great selection of eateries in the vicinity. If visiting with a vehicle you’ll have to park out on the street. Just across the street, Lake Inn is an old hotel with lake-view rooms and a car park for around 800 baht.
