Beachfront or nothing
If you’re looking for flashpacker digs beachside on Haad Rin and are comfortable with a more backpacker style of standards, then look no further than Seaview Sunrise.
Set at the far northern end of Haad Rin Beach, as far away from the party as you can be without climbing onto the rocks, Seaview offers very well priced absolute beachfront bungalows set under a row of swinging palms.
Bungalows are spacious and easily sleep three (they come with a double bed and a single bed standard), have clean bathrooms and balconies offering a terrific viewpoint over the beach. They are rough around the edges – in the beachfront room we saw a guest had clearly tried to punch their way through the wall (unsuccessfully) and the beds are a lumpy, but at this price point, considering what you’ll pay for an air-con box elsewhere on Haad Rin, the rates are extremely reasonable.
The beachfront huts are fan-cooled only, though air-con is available in some of the bungalows off the beach. They have cheaper huts in a row behind it and cheaper again further back – these are not so hot and not such great value – we’d be aiming for beachfront or nothing. Very friendly and welcoming staff round out a solid deal.
The beach out front here is delightful – powder fine squeaky white sand and save a few rocks in the water, it is crystal – best of all, the longtails don’t anchor at this end of the beach. A minimum two night stay here is standard, but over a Full Moon Party this stretches to five nights – at least the rates only jump a little (compared to some increases of 300%, here they jump a mere 300 baht).
Reservations over Full Moon Party are essential and recommended the rest of the time. As long as you can look past the sometimes worn state of the accommodation, this is a great spot on Haad Rin. Recommended.
