Great poolside rooms
There is nothing ordinary about See Through Boutique Resort and while it won’t be to everyone’s taste, they’ve obviously done something right as they’re often jammed and we salute them for trying something a bit different and doing a good job of it.
See Through is the southern-most of three long thin blocks running from Haad Yao’s main drag through to the beach. Immediately north of here is large bungalow styled, Haad Yao Bungalows (See Through also sorts out reservations for them) and north again is the more hotel styled Haad Yao Resort. We thought See Through was the best candidate of the three.
It’s a two storey minimalist polished concrete block that runs the length of the property, finishing at a popular beach bar on a great section of the beach. One side of the building is room access and the other is an attractive wading pool that runs for the length of the building, making every ground pool room a pool access room. While the rooms upstairs obviously have more privacy (and their own, rather than a shared terrace) we’d say in this case, privacy be damned and go for a ground floor room opening onto the pool.
You will get to know your neighbours. Rooms have been built on a slight angle to the pool which makes them all staggered, delivering a little bit of privacy and this is reflected in the rooms with a staggered glassy wall, one just windows, the other tall glass doors. This helps to make the room bright and airy and generally quite appealing.
Beds are on a heavy wooden base with real linen, a sash and decorative pillows. The bathroom in the room we were shown was immaculate. All rooms have hot water, air-con WiFi and flatscreen TV. The ground floor rooms have a slight premium on those on the upper floor, but we’d say it is worth it.
Neighbouring Haad Yao Bungalows doesn’t have a pool and starts at around 1,750 baht for a freestanding bungalow while Haad Yao Resort’s hotel style rooms start at about 2,500 baht and it does have a small pool. Of the three properties though, we’d say See Through is the best. Recommended.
