Great location with a pool

Bottle Beach I is like Bottle Beach II for grown-ups – it offers smart bungalows, a great swimming pool and a comfortable, good restaurant – you do pay for these pleasures though and it is significantly more expensive here.
While they have a range of rooms available, the best of the bunch are the beachfront, wooden, fan-cooled rooms that are set in a row right by the beach under shady palms. With a couple of plastic chairs and a strung hammock (or two), you've got no excuse but to spend some time swinging away enjoying the scene.
Some of the beachfront rooms are more modern, concrete and have two double beds (with scope for an extra mattress) making them a good choice for families with small kids. Inside, decor leans towards the frumpy in some rooms, but they're well kept and you'll be spending little time inside your room anyway with so much great beach out front.
While it is set back, behind the beachside bungalows, the freeform pool is good – again a highlight for those with younger kids as it has a shallow area for small kids. The restaurant is popular and we liked the stacked green bottles at the bar.
Bottle Beach I is towards the busier end of the beach so there is some racket from the boats coming and going, but once the boats stop in the late afternoon, you're on one of the best stretches of the beach.
If you'd like something more hotel style, Haad Khuad Resort next door has a range of options including modern rooms in a two-storey building – comfortable no doubt, but a visual blight on a beach as pretty as this. If you're looking for something more budgetish, look at Bottle Beach II.
