Golden Rock

One of the cheapest sets of bungalows around, Golden Rock has simple thatched roof editions on stilts set in lush surrounds just off the sea.

Photo of Golden Rock The fan-cooled rooms have a decent looking bed, mosquito net, small desk and chair, bathroom with cold water and a balcony with hammock. You feel like you are truly in the tropics here with a large thick grassed area dotted with palm trees, while still only a small stroll to the restaurant shack (with WiFi) built into the rock and on stilts over the water. If seclusion is your thing and you are looking for a more authentic Thai holiday on a budget, then this is the place for you. To find Golden Rock, head north through Seethanu and at the second small set of shops on the coast road, turn left (when you see the tattoo shop on your right) and go down the dirt road and stay to your right. It will take you straight up to the waterfront restaurant.
