Not to be confused with Paradise Lost or another resort called Paradise Beach on Ko Ngai, Kradan Paradise Beach Resort easily overlooked place has a few concrete air-con rooms and simple bamboo bungalows overlooking the far northern end of the beach.

Painted royal blue, the air-con room with tall glass windows that we peeped was spacious, clean and outfitted with a quality bed, a lot of shelves, portable fan and modern hot-water bathroom with glass-basin sink—not too shabby at all. A couple of rattan loungers sat on the porch overlooking the sea, punctuated by Lanna-style lanterns. For the price and beachfront location, these are easily the best-value air-con digs on Kradan.

Budget travellers will appreciate the bungalows that are almost identical, in substance but not in price, to the low-end ones at nearby Kalume Village. Walk down here to save 600 baht on a hut with bamboo foundations, woven bamboo walls, mosquito nets pitched over firm mattresses on the floor, and cement bathrooms with flush toilets and cold-water showers.

Once again we arrived to find the Thai owner sitting around with a few staffers while several rooms sat vacant, even while most of the island’s resorts were full or close to capacity. That could have something to do with the fact that this resort, with its unoriginal name, has almost no online presence.

But, wood and rattan also available.

The English-speaking owner has always been welcoming to us, but it seems like he doesn’t really care if anyone stays here or not. That’s not a bad thing if you’re hunting for good value. The resort has a little shop selling beer, soft drinks and snacks, and it even looked like a restaurant had materialised since our last visit.
