Alternately known as Sukorn Island Resort (that’s what the sign said, at least), this place appeared closed at first glance.

The restaurant was dusty and unstaffed, the grounds were unkempt, a few thatch pavilions by the beach were dilapidated and some of the bungalows furthest back looked like they hadn’t been occupied for years. While this is clearly not a fully functioning resort, some of the white brick-and-cement bungalows are kept in working order, and we came across a couple of Italians who were happily staying in one of them for several months on the cheap. For the price, these small and basic fan-cooled rooms aren’t bad value, each with a porch, a few windows, tile floors and cold-water wet bathrooms. Larger bungalows with air-con and hot water are set closer to the beach, and both of the rooms that we peeped in at appeared clean. The eccentric owner seemed to welcome a haggle over the rates. Andaman Resort is directly next door, so you could stay here to save cash and take your meals over there. The owner only told us that rates stay the same all year after a few moments of deep thought; don’t be surprised if he asks for more at certain times of year.
