Most upscale in Buon Ma Thuot
Hai Ba Trung is the city’s most upscale place to stay.
Opened in 2014, the hotel is glossier and newer than Saigon Ban-Me Hotel. Everything has that fresh new glow and we can only hope the lustre will last. Thankfully the ugly lobby isn’t an accurate indicator of the rooms which have contemporary city hotel style a la Viet. Rooms boasts big windows, carpeted floors, a desk/vanity, flatscreen TV and the usual accoutrements you would expect at this price range such as air-con, WiFi, luggage rack, floor length mirror and minibar. The modern and clean bathrooms are great. Higher category rooms are simply larger. The well-sized rooftop swimming pool is a definite bonus. Rate includes breakfast and singles get a discount. Hai Ba Trung is as good as it gets in Buon Ma Thuot.

Cindy Fan is a Canadian writer/photographer and author of So Many Miles, a website that chronicles the love of adventure, food and culture. After falling in love with sticky rice and Mekong sunsets, in 2011 she uprooted her life in Toronto to live la vida Laos. She’s travelled to over 40 countries and harbours a deep affection for Africa and Southeast Asia. In between jaunts around the world, she calls Laos and Vietnam home where you’ll find her traipsing through rice paddies, standing beside broken-down buses and in villages laughing with the locals.
