Xuan Hung Hotel

Our rating:

It would be tempting to back away from the Xuan Hung after checking out the lobby, which is dark, cramped and crowded with tacky oversized ’antiques’ and a huge aquarium.

But give the place a chance -- take the lift up the skinny building to clean, airy rooms with huge windows, big beds and bathrooms with either full-sized bathtubs or separate showers. Rooms at the front even have a balcony, though it isn’t large enough to do much other than stand outside and look around. The hotel was given a makeover in early 2013, and while they’ve done their best with the windowless standard rooms (which are just too dark) the value in this hotel lies in the superior category, particularly if you are travelling in a group -- the triple rooms are huge, airy and come with a balcony. For couples or families the suite takes lodging here to a new level and we were pleasantly surprised by the price tag.
