A knockout
Completed in 2012, the six-floor, 20-room Chu Hotel is an absolute knockout if you like your hotels a bit more characterful than the standard Vietnamese four-star.
Communal areas and rooms are stylishly decorated and furnished with darkwood Asian-inspired antique furniture. The lobby is home to an indoor/outdoor restaurant, a library and breezy bar area which has quickly established itself as a favourite haunt for both guests and expats, making it a great place to socalise. Dinner is served with beach views on the top-deck terrace. Rooms are spacious, spotless and luxuriously fitted, with WiFi, cable TVs, minibars and top of the line bathrooms. Set over the road from the beach are plenty of seafood restaurants, while popular bars the Billabong and brand new Vertigo are a 100-metre stroll away. On the day we visited Chu were opening the aptly named Chu 2 in an adjoining property. Recommended.
