More on Hoi An

There's no big draw to a Cua Dai Street location, which means hotels located here have to have work hard to entice prospective guests. Like Hoi An Ancient House Village, Muca Boutique Resort delivers and makes a good case for choosing to stay a little out of the way. This oasis offers excellent value.

Travelfish says:

The three-storey buildings of just 36 rooms is tucked away in the countryside at the edge of a small river, located in the same cute hamlet as Rock Villa. Rooms come in three categories and differ by size only.

All offer modern fittings, which perhaps is a slight let down considering the exceptionally pretty and charming old world exterior. However, the rooms are comfortable and we'd easily overlook the amateurish framed paintings on the wall because the beds are huge and get bigger the higher up the categories you go (premier room beds are the size of two queens), flatscreen TVs are huge, the bathrooms are modern and functional and large wardrobes come with a safe, robes, kettle and beach towels.

Superior garden level rooms are family friendly, giving an option of interconnecting rooms while deluxe and premier take up the balconied first and second floors.

Muca Boutique Resort is located east of Cua Dai Street, across the river. It's 1.5 kilometres from Cua Dai Beach and four kilometres from the old town. This is a place for quiet relaxation and contemplation. Party animals should look elsewhere.

The river view from the resort's restaurant and infinity pool is mesmerizing. A stilted relaxation deck above the lazily flowing river kitted out with loungers is conducive to listening to bird song, disconnecting and winding down. Less lazy but equally as relaxing are offered activities such as fishing, boating and cooking classes.

In between jaunts around the world, she calls Laos and Vietnam home where you’ll find her traipsing through rice paddies, standing beside broken-down buses and in villages laughing with the locals.
