The Hippie House

Community living

More on Hoi An

Creative? Relaxed? Like to meet other travellers? Does the phrase "community living" bring a smile to your face? The colourfully painted Hippie House is a backpacker-type place at a flashpacker price and it feels like a shared house rather than a guesthouse -- be prepared to mingle.

Travelfish says:

Located down a narrow alley at the edge of An Bang, this place has a chilled out, happy, bohemian vibe. Shells hang from the trees, guests write colourful messages on the walls and in between beach time, you’ll find yourself hanging out on the front porch or in the communal kitchen where you’re welcome to whip up your own meals.

Private rooms (shared bathroom) are basic but well-put together affairs, coming with a mosquito net, cupboard and fan, all a modern day hippie needs. There is also a gorgeous two-bedroom house available to rent. They’ve done an amazing job renovating an old Vietnamese house into a beach-chic haven, keeping the existing patterned floor tiles and adding a sleek kitchen, high ceiling, shelves for clothes and outdoor bathroom. Keeping with the hippie credo, it’s fan only. The place is simple yet has just enough comfort to satisfy flashpackers. It’s beach living come true, and would be a steal if you’re a group of four.
