More on Dong Ha

Muong Thanh is Dong Ha’s highest-rated hotel in terms of stars, but if you have high expectations you’ll be sorely disappointed.

Travelfish says:

However, we noticed outrageously low rates through online booking sites that make it a tempting option. This is the rate we have listed.

Muong Thanh is a nationwide chain and while we’ve seen some new and shiny versions (like the one in Dong Hoi), their Quang Tri hotel seems to be an example of what happens over the years. The initial room we were shown smelled overwhelmingly of cigarettes, had burn marks in the carpets, all the walls were scuffed and peeling and the carpet clearly hadn’t been vacuumed. We were moved to another room which was infinitely better and clean, though still a bit worn around the edges.

Rooms are beige and bland, brightly lit and have the usual hotel amenities: minibar, tea/coffee and kettle, flatscreen TV, vanity, full length desk, bedside table, safety box, plugs and floor to ceiling windows. The marble bathrooms are also bright and uncontroversial, with a bathtub/shower combo. There’s nothing that will knock your socks off but it is centrally located, it has an outdoor pool and the reception speak English.
