Formerly the Golf Hotel, TTC Hotel sits at the northern end of Hai Ba Trung’s riverside promenade. While we don’t normally feature large generic hotels unless we find reason to, in this case we found reason to thanks to the views, location and swimming pool.
The rooms of TTC Hotel are what you would expect of a solid three-star hotel. Rooms have cream walls, ebony furniture and purple accents, the hotel’s theme colour. The rooms receive a lot of natural light from the large windows, making everything feel bright. However, we’re not so thrilled about the fact that it is carpeted. When we inspected in 2017, in the rooms we saw the carpet looked decent but experience has taught us that carpet usually doesn’t fare well in Vietnam hotels.
On the plus side, the room is equipped with respectable city hotel-type furnishings and amenities like flatscreen TV, air-con, WiFi, a long desk that also holds the minibar, kettle, tea/coffee and vanity, while the bed has built-in bedside tables, lamps and plugs. Guests can also look forward to modern tiled bathrooms with marble countertops and bathtubs.
The Deluxe River View rooms are the ones we’d choose for the balcony and as the name suggest, view of the river. Ask for one on an upper floor for an excellent, unobstructed vantage—the river view really is the main selling point of this hotel. The hotel is also close to the pedestrian bridge across the Cai Khe canal giving access to a quiet walkway along the water. Head here for pleasant strolls or go south along Hai Ba Trung to the tourist night market, local market and pier for the tourist boats. The pedestrian bridge and river walkways are particularly active in the evening.
The final selling point is the good sized outdoor pool. Check online booking sites, as even the receptionist informed us it was usually 25% cheaper online than the posted rated which we’ve listed. This hotel is for the traveller looking for a few more creature comforts for under US$100.

Cindy Fan is a Canadian writer/photographer and author of So Many Miles, a website that chronicles the love of adventure, food and culture. After falling in love with sticky rice and Mekong sunsets, in 2011 she uprooted her life in Toronto to live la vida Laos. She’s travelled to over 40 countries and harbours a deep affection for Africa and Southeast Asia. In between jaunts around the world, she calls Laos and Vietnam home where you’ll find her traipsing through rice paddies, standing beside broken-down buses and in villages laughing with the locals.
