Charming beachfront bungalows
This is one of our top picks for accommodation right on Long Beach.
Set in a veritable maze of tropical gardens, Thanh Kieu Beach Resort’s brick bungalows are simple yet elegant and have charming natural touches like bamboo furniture and an open-air bathroom with stone shower and its own walled garden. If you love that detail about the open-air bathroom, then read on. Rooms have terracotta floors, a four-poster bed with dreamy mosquito netting and crisp white linens. There are plenty of windows and a big glass door that opens to a terrace. The bamboo patio chairs don’t look comfortable at all but you’ll probably opt for the terrace’s hammock anyway. Rooms come with a safe, air-con, WiFi and a fridge. Everything is tidy and clean. The rate includes both airport pick up and breakfast.
If you can make your way through the property (it really is a maze), you’ll eventually end up on their pretty palm-dotted section of Long Beach where you’ll find plenty of sun huts and loungers to worship the famous Phu Quoc sunset. Thanh Kieu is one of the best value options on Long Beach.

Cindy Fan is a Canadian writer/photographer and author of So Many Miles, a website that chronicles the love of adventure, food and culture. After falling in love with sticky rice and Mekong sunsets, in 2011 she uprooted her life in Toronto to live la vida Laos. She’s travelled to over 40 countries and harbours a deep affection for Africa and Southeast Asia. In between jaunts around the world, she calls Laos and Vietnam home where you'll find her traipsing through rice paddies, standing beside broken-down buses and in villages laughing with the locals.
