Located right on the main road, Phu Quoc An Guesthouse offers large, bright, clean rooms with private bathrooms.
The tile floors sparkle and though there are only a few pieces of furniture, everything is kept orderly and tidy. Budget travellers can look forward to WiFi, air-con or fan and new-ish hot water bathroom. The room we saw even had a foot rinse area, handy since you are walking distance to Long Beach. This one would please most flashpackers.
When we visited in December 2015, heavy construction was underway on the main road and on neighbouring land. Any accommodation, be it budget or high-end, is at risk of construction noise as Long Beach is undergoing a sweeping building boom, so the inconvenience may be worth overlooking for the price.

Cindy Fan is a Canadian writer/photographer and author of So Many Miles, a website that chronicles the love of adventure, food and culture. After falling in love with sticky rice and Mekong sunsets, in 2011 she uprooted her life in Toronto to live la vida Laos. She’s travelled to over 40 countries and harbours a deep affection for Africa and Southeast Asia. In between jaunts around the world, she calls Laos and Vietnam home where you’ll find her traipsing through rice paddies, standing beside broken-down buses and in villages laughing with the locals.
