Steps to the beach

More on Dong Hoi

Just 100 metres from Nhat Le Beach and four kilometres north of the town centre along the coast, Ocean View Homestay is a mini getaway for those who want some water, sand and friendly, welcoming service.

Travelfish says:

The owner, who speaks excellent English, is very kind. With the help of a friendly dog, she goes out of her way to ensure guests have a comfortable stay.

The private rooms are clean and cosy, and they’ve managed to squeeze in a few pieces of furniture into the small space. Rooms come with air-con, WiFi, a wall-mounted TV and a clean ensuite bathroom. We visited the property during the off-season and the dorm rooms were being updated, therefore we can’t report on how they looked, but given how well maintained the other rooms were we’d expect the same quality and cleanliness. The other winning feature of Ocean View Homestay is its quaint garden with hammocks and tables to hang out in.

The big selling point is the close proximity to the beach. If you are coming during the off-season between November to April, when it can be cold, windy and wet, there would be no real reason to stay here. It really is too far from town where you’ll need to get grub – most eateries on the beach are shuttered up during this time. However, this is a pleasant stay from around May to September, when the weather is warm and water good for swimming. It’s also just 500 metres north of traveller hangout Beachside Backpackers.
