Seasonal beachfront digs

More on Dong Hoi

Located directly on Nhat Le Beach, less than four kilometres north of Dong Hoi city centre, Beachside Backpackers is exactly as advertised: beachside + backpackers.

Travelfish says:

We visited during the off-season (November to March) so our photo really does not do the accommodation justice but travellers can expect a great beach hangout spot and backpacker haven: tables and chairs just metres from the ocean, along with a foosball table, billiard table and bar.

Dorms are spartan, though you do get air-con and WiFi and each bed gets their own electrical plug and reading light. Private rooms have more character than your average Vietnamese guesthouse, enlivened with bold paint and a pretty bathroom featuring a mix of modern polished concrete and natural touches such as potted plants, terracotta and stone.

Beachside Backpackers is ideal from March to November. In off-season, the weather is usually wet, windy and cold, and most of Nhat Le Beach is shuttered up and feels like a ghost town. During this time you will need to travel four kilometres into the city centre for food. These are definitely seasonal digs.
