The ramparts of this modern take on a castle stand in view of the Delta Restaurant down a sidestreet leading away from Sapa's main drag.

They have a reasonable selection of unreasonably-priced but classy rooms in their new wing (Chau Long II) and cheaper options in the old wing (Chau Long I). The Chau Long has a good bar and restaurant serving midrange Western and Vietnamese entrees; breakfast is included in the new wing room price. The hotel's most unique feature is a heated swimming pool. It's small, in a courtyard on a lower floor, completely closed in with windows, and only really tempting during winter. In summer, you'd feel like a fish in a bowl. There is also a massage and spa on offer with sauna and Jacuzzi. The location is good, so the views from the new wing in particular are fantastic. If you can get a room in the new wing at a promotional rate, it's definitely worth considering.
