Isolated, exclusive and with one very spectacular view, Six Senses is Con Dao’s only luxury resort and the over the top location has a price tag to match.
If you have to ask, “How much?” and, “Why is it THAT much?”, it is probably out of your budget.
As to why, we can’t fully answer that as we were not allowed to see a room, making it one of the only high-end resorts in Vietnam that has refused us entry (and we have inspected A LOT of hotels in our days). In fact, it took us 15 minutes of back and forth for us to be permitted entry past the gate into the lobby. The lobby. For such a low-key, small island, the level of scrutiny is excessive.
So, what we can say is that Six Senses is very private and exclusive. It is the only accommodation outside of town, located in between Con Son town (five kilometres away) and the airport (nine kilometres away) on the eastern side of the island. It is situated on almost-private Dat Doc Beach – we say almost, because the public are allowed on a tiny sliver at the eastern edge, and a security guard vigilantly hovers over outsiders to ensure they go no further. The “Elephant Mountain”, named for the obvious shape, dramatically looms over the villas and the vast beach which peacefully stretches out during low tide. The natural surrounds are undeniably gorgeous, jaw-droppingly so – this is what you pay for. However, the resort’s location on the eastern side of the island means it gets full wind from November to January (sometimes earlier or later). It can be very cloudy, gusty and wavy during this time and not ideal.
All the villas have a pool and come with the facilities, services and amenities you would expect at this calibre – spa, restaurants, bar and even an ice cream shop. We never received a reply to our anonymous email inquiry. Rate includes breakfast, but half-board or full-board is an additional option. Also factor in tax, service charge and excursions.
