Opened in early 2017, Cozy House 160 is the latest addition to the hostel alley at 373 Pham Ngu Lao and it’s now one of the best budget accommodation in the lane.

We inspected Cozy House 160 only a few months after it opened, so of course everything looked fresh and hardly used. But there are other positives to consider as well. It is double the width of the other skinny guesthouse buildings in this alley, meaning the dorm rooms and lobby are significantly more spacious. The lobby has splashes of turquoise paint, plants, art and complimentary fresh fruit. The palette and decor is a bit on the feminine side but with so many same-same budget accommodation in the area, any personality and spunk is welcome. Cozy House 160 also boasts a lift.

The rooms are smart, compact and comfortable.

The private rooms are great quality, good value and comfortable, with effort put into the furnishings and decor. Off white walls, pine furniture, wall mounted flat screen TV and built-in shelving keep the room feeling light, tidy and uncluttered. It comes with a desk, mini-fridge, kettle, air-con, WiFi, hairdryer and a modern bathroom.

There are two dorm rooms, and with 12 beds in each, this is on the high side for Pham Ngu Lao, where rooms of 4-8 beds are more common. On the bright side, the dorm is spacious, has windows and there’s a decent amount of space between the metal bunks. Towel and lockers are available, and there’s air-con, WiFi and each bed has its own reading light and power point. Ceilings are high enough that someone in the top bunk can sit up. If you prefer a dorm with less beds, just a few buildings down is Town House 373 (six and eight person dorm) and Long Hostel (four person dorm), but the space is significantly smaller.

It’s a tidy, clean experience, at the quieter western edge of Pham Ngu Lao, away from the party but easy walking distance to it (Bui Vien St is just around the corner). The lane can be accessed from either the lane off of Cong Quynh or Pham Ngu Lao—going down 373 Pham Ngu Lao, it’s at the very end.
