More on Phan Thiet

Ocean Dunes Resort is a classic case of a once international branded hotel no longer under the brand masthead.

Travelfish says:

What you get with this former Novotel are rooms with decent bones – tasteful decor, purpose built furniture, amenities – in a state of deterioration.

Don’t expect a four-star hotel, but bargain hunters who don’t mind the wear and tear can get a beachfront hotel, rooms with ocean views and a swimming pool at great discount – we saw it for under US$40 online. If you can overlook the room’s frozen-in-time maintenance, then you can look forward to a well laid out air-con room with bedside tables, desk, vanity, WiFi, flatscreen TV and generic hotel bathroom: large countertop and mirror, a few toiletries and hot water shower. Rooms on the ocean side have a balcony with fantastic view.

The edges are tired, the walls scuffed and the lift is seriously dodgy. The redeeming factor is the pool, loungers, hammocks and the beach. There is free bicycle rental, motorbike rentals and some English spoken. Again, rates online are a great deal cheaper than the rack rates listed here.
