P&T Family Resort

Getaway for independent travellers

More on Phan Thiet

Set 15 kilometres south of Phan Thiet City, P&T Family Resort is an anomaly amid the properties along this coastline.

Travelfish says:

Forget the name; it is not a resort but a family-owned hotel set in a modern building with rooms that resemble apartments. Rooms have a kitchenette and a living room area. Given the out of the way location, miles from anything in either direction, this will appeal for very independent travellers who want to self-cater. You should come fully prepared with groceries and having your own transport would definitely be better for exploring.

The kitchenette has a minifridge, kettle, sink and cook top. We didn’t see any pots or pans but it’s safe to assume these would be supplied. The living area is spacious, with sofa and flatscreen TV. The bedroom has a platform bed with clean white linens, bedside table and reading light. Bathrooms are brightly lit, modern and clean. The whole decor has been kept neutral and bland but it’s tidy and functional. The rooms at the back have a terrace with ocean view.

The back of the house faces the water, with steps leading down to the lawn, the wild beach and the swimming pool, which was completely drained when we visited in March 2016. There was nobody there that could speak English, adding to the challenge.

The room rate is a little too high considering how much effort it would take a traveller to get there, the limited food options and the fact the pool had no water. The rate through online booking sites was much cheaper than the rate we were quoted in person, so we’ve listed the online price here. But this is the only decent joint remotely close to being a budget accommodation in this area and it is brand new. You’ll also likely have it all to yourself. We could see this appealing to an adventurous group of friends or a family prepared to make their own fun on the beach.
