Traveling from Siem Reap to Koh Chang

Posted by takezo on 16/11/2013 at 15:50

Hi!

I am planning to travel from Siem Reap to Koh Chang via Battambang and Pailin at the end of December.
I have read most posts here and in other forums, but not much that was up to date.

Needs to be said that I am traveling on my own, so I guess I need to be flexible when it comes to shared taxis and stuff.

I would be particularly interested to know whether you can make that trip in a day or whether you need to stop over in order to hit the best times crossing into Thailand. E.g. go to Battambang, stay one night, take an early shared taxi to Pailin and the border and then onwards to Koh Chang.

I heard getting from the border to Chantaburi might be a bit tricky.

Thanks very much

from Siem Reap you are very unlikely to do the trip in one day ( you might be better going via Aranyaprathet if you want to do it in a day)

I would suggest you spend the night in Pailin so that you cross the border earlier. It is not a big problem to get from the border to Chanthaburi simply that buses/songthaews are not frequent so it may involve a wait for the onward transport
