We will be in Cambodia in mid January for about 10 days.We then plan to go to Vietnam overland after that..We are heading north to Hanoi so do not want to go to Ho Chi Min.We are hoping to get to Da Nang or Hue for Tet (New Year)
Is it best to do this through Laos. How long does this take or is it even worth the long journey. We have not ruled out the possibility of flying into Vietnam..
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks in advance

There is a nonstop Siem Reap-Danang flight on both Silk Air and Vietnam Airlines - I believe this is considerably cheaper than going through Laos to Hanoi. The very cheapest route is overland into HCMC.
I would book your travel ASAP for Tet!

if you cross from Vientiane across it takes 24 hours by bus to get up to Hanoi. if at Paske and cross you are in the middle of Vietnam.
Depending on the country takes into account the travel to Vietnam between most major sites 8 to 10 hours.
cambodia 4 to 6 hours.
laos 4 to 6 hours and 24.
